Lowell H. Suring, Principal Wildlife Ecologist
Lowell Suring joined Northern Ecologic L.L.C. in 2009 after serving as a Wildlife Ecologist with the USDA Forest Service at several locations in Minnesota, Alaska, and Idaho since 1980. He also held permanent positions with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in New Mexico and with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Lowell is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and is active in The Wildlife Society at State Chapter, Section, and International levels. His professional interests include the development and implementation of analytical techniques and tools that may be used to evaluate the capability of habitats to support wildlife and the effects of land management activities on habitat capability. He has had extensive experience in:
  • Development and implementation of techniques for broad-scale habitat assessment.
  • Landscape planning to maintain species of conservation concern.
  • Development and implementation of habitat capability models.
  • Assessment of habitat use patterns of species of concern.
  • Integration of wildlife science into natural resource planning and management.
  • Management and recovery of threatened and endangered species.
Erik Suring, Principal Aquatic Ecologist and GIS Specialist
Erik Suring has worked professionally as an aquatic ecologist with an emphasis in assessment of salmonid populations. He has several years experience designing and implementing multiple salmonid survey and trapping protocols and analyzing the resulting large-scale, spatially-explicit survey data. This includes designing complex relational databases and data entry systems for electronic field data collection and extensive use of statistical data packages (e.g., R). He also has experience designing and managing Geographic Information Systems and geodatabases and integrating them into survey protocols and data analysis.
Aaron Suring, Chief Technical Officer
Aaron Suring completed his computer science degree with honors from UAF in 2000. In 2002 he joined with Patrick Race to launch Lucid Reverie, a media design firm in Juneau specializing in website development, video production and graphic design. Aaron provides design skills, technical acumen, and small business experience to Northern Ecologic L.L.C.
Carol Suring, Chief Executive Officer
Carol Suring blended a successful career as a Medical Technologist with developing and operating a small business. She has also participated in the development of a not-for-profit organization. She recently combined her science and business backgrounds to form Northern Ecologic L.L.C., a natural resources consulting firm. Her financial and project management skills ensure that work undertaken by this firm is completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
